The Ambient Intelligence Group of the Department of Intelligent Systems at Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is looking for a researcher to work on the group’s ongoing projects. Both junior candidates with a BSc of MSc degree are sought, as well as postdocs or even more experienced researchers.
The Ambient Intelligence Group under the leadership of Dr Mitja Luštrek mainly works in the health domain. We develop methods to interpret sensor data from wearables and other devices, we use artificial intelligence to understand human behaviors, physical and psychological states, and to predict health risks and similar. We have many collaborations with researchers from across Europe. We sometimes participate in scientific competitions, where we have had substantial success, for example we were one of two grand winners of the $500k XPrize Pandemic Response Challenge.
The candidates should have a degree in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or some other relevant field. They should have knowledge of Python or another programming language. Familiarity with artificial intelligence is desirable but not a requirement in junior candidates. They should be curious, open-minded and willing to learn. They also need to be able to communicate well in English.
Junior candidates will receive full support in obtaining a MSc or PhD degree at Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School. More experienced researchers will be given positions of authority commensurate with their experience and desire, and given the opportunity to develop their careers. All candidates will get the chance to interact with other research organizations, attend conferences, thematic schools and other events.
